The National Cadet Corps (NCC) has its roots in the University Corps, which was created under the Indian Defence Act 1917 with the objective to instilling patriotism in the hearts and minds of young generation. The NCC came into existence on July 16, 1948, through the NCC Act XXXI of 1948, under the Ministry of Defence Act with the following aims:

a) To develop character b) comradeship c) ideals of service d) capacity for leadership in the youth of the country.?

The express purpose is to stimulate interest in the defence of the country by providing service training to the youth and to build up a reserve to enable the Armed Forces to expand rapidly during a national emergency.

Achievements:

• 14 SD Cadets are participated in CAT (Combined Annual Training) - TSC & RDC Selection Camp, held at RPT, Gudiyatham, Vellore District from 21 May to 30 May 2015.
• 1SW Cadet R. Kaviyarasi (Second year ECE Department) has selected for SOUTH ZONE SHOOTING CAPSULE at KK College, Paramathy- velur, Namakkal District from 22 May to 31 May2015. (She is only SW Cadet got selected in our 1(TN) Sig Coy NCC, Tambaram).
• 1SW Cadet R. Kaviyarasi (Second year ECE Department) has selected for IGC SHOOTING at KK College, Paramathy- velur, Namakkal District from 03 Jun to 12 Jun 2015.

Our Cadets Attended Camps Various Place in India

• 11 SD cadets were attended Army Attachment Camp at 54 Signal Regiment, Secunderabad, on 30th Jun’14 to 15th Jul’14.
• 3 SD cadets were attended Ner Trekking Camp at Arps, Shillong, on 10th Dec’14 – 17th Dec’14.
• 2 SD cadets were attended NIC (National Integeration Camp) at BILAHI, M.P, on 16th Dec’14 – 27th Dec’14.

Our Cadets Attended Various Camps in Tamil Nadu

• 2 SW cadets were attended in the Rdc Selection Camp At J.R.K .School Kattangulathur, Chennai was held, on 13 may ’14 to 22 May ’14.
• 13 SD & 5 SW cadets were attended Combined Annual Training Camp at Corley School, Tambaram, on 5 Aug ‘14 -14 Aug ’14
• The students of NCC & NSS arrange Blood Donation Camp By Lions Club. In that camp more than 300 youths were donated the blood.
• BLC (Basic Leader Ship Camp) held at Soka Ikkada Arts & Science College for Woman, Mahanakuppam, on 21 Oct’14 to 30 Oct’14.
• All cadets are participated in the event of Human Flag at Nandanam, on 7 Dec’14.
• 8 cadets were attended CATC (Combined Annual Training Camp) at VEL TECH, Avadi, on 19 Dec’14 to 28 Dec ’14.
• Cadets attended Faith Memorial Service for Martyrs of Uniform of Independent India at IIT madras.
• Cadets attended Advance Leadership Camp at Physical Education College, Tiruchendur.
• 4 SD cadets were attended RDC Felicitation Function at Asan School, Egmore, on 2nd Feb’15.
• 4 SD cadets were participated in 6th National Level Seminor on Disastor Management & ITS Importance at D.G.Vaishnav College, Arumbakkm, on 17th Feb’15.
• All cadets are participated in the competition of Cadowood at Madras Christian College, Tambaram, on 27 & 28 Feb’15.
• SW Cadets were celebrated Womens Day Function Aa Guru Nanak College, Velachery.
• 14 SD Cadets are participated in CAT (Combined Annual Training) - TSC & RDC Selection Camp, held at RPT, Gudiyatham Vellore Dist from 21 May to 30 May 2015.
• 1SW Cadet R. Kaviyarasi (Second year ECE Department) has selected for South Zone Shooting Capsule at KK College, Paramathy- velur, Namakkal Dt from 22 May to 31 May2015. (She is only SW Cadet got selected in our 1(TN) Sig Coy NCC, Tambaram).
• 1SW Cadet R. Kaviyarasi (Second year ECE Department) has selected for IGC Shooting at KK College, Paramathy- Velur, Namakkal Dt from 03 Jun to 12 Jun 2015.
• 4SD Cadets are selected and attend the TSC (BOYS) CAMP held at KRM Public School, Perambur, Chennai, Dt from 12 Jun to 21 Jun 2015.
• 2SD Cadets are selected and attend the CATC – CUM - Sports Camp held at KRM Public School, Perambur,Chennai, Dt from 12 Jun to 21 Jun 2015.

These are the camps & functions were attended by our college NCC cadets. Our cadets wrote B & C certificate exams on 14th, 15th Mar’15 and 28th Feb’15, 1st Mar’15 respectively. 30 (6SW 24SD) cadets were wrote C certificate and 11(9SD 2SW) cadets were wrote B certificate.

I am thankful to our Principal, Dr.C.CHELLAPPAN sir for his guidance and support and also to the parents for reposing their faith in us and allowing their children to join NCC and serve the motherland. Finally, kudos to all NCC cadets for their outstanding performance in the examination and at the competition held at camps. May God bless them with good health, joy and prosperity.
